Mission
The Center for International Students and Scholars (CISS) provides a variety of services that support the academic mission of Bentley College by facilitating the integration of international students and scholars into the Bentley community. These services include:
Immigration Advising
CISS immigration services are centered around the F and J immigration categories for students. CISS advisers will assist with issuance of immigration documents, submission of immigration related applications to U.S. government agencies, and general immigration matters.
Cultural Adjustment Programming
CISS advisers provide guidance and support to ease the adjustment to life in the U.S. for Bentley’s international community. This guidance begins with a specialized orientation program for new international students. Orientation is offered at the beginning of each semester. Students are acclimated to U.S. life and culture while learning about the academic environment at Bentley. Individual orientation sessions are provided to international faculty and staff upon their arrival to the college.
Intercultural Programs
CISS sponsors and participates in many activities to increase awareness of the international and multicultural nature of Bentley College. These activities include Diwali (Indian Festival of Lights), Festival of Colors, and support for student organizations with an international or multicultural mission. CISS also provides direct oversight for the International Peer Advisers and serves as adviser for the International Student Association (ISA), Bentley Cultural Council (BCC), South Asian Student Association (SASA), and the Bentley Russian Club (BRC).
External Activities
CISS maintains contacts with government, educational and civic groups to enhance international education services for the Bentley community. This includes membership in NAFSA: Association of International Educators, the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators and various other organizations.
