On April 22, 2010 Bentley University and TIME will present a thought-provoking half-day symposium featuring progressive leaders who are making a difference in healthcare, environmental change, commitment to society and acting responsibly, corporate philanthropy, and leadership development at the annual Bentley Leadership Forum.

This year's Leadership Forum, the sixth in a series of annual events designed to spotlight critical issues in business ethics, leadership and social responsibility, will explore the need for accountable leadership.

Held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Dana Athletic Center on the Bentley University campus, the Forum will feature Dr. Mehmet Oz, one of America's foremost cardiothoracic surgeons, as the keynote speaker.  A writer, inventor and advocate of alternative medicine, Dr. Oz also hosts his own syndicated talk show on Fox Television.  Featured speakers also include Majora Carter, environmental justice activist and President of The Majora Carter Group; Julie Cottineau, Vice President of Brand for Virgin USA; Margaret A. McKenna, President of the Walmart Foundation; and Ted Hoff, Vice President of the Center for Learning and Development for IBM Corporation worldwide.

Richard Stengel, TIME Managing Editor, will open the Forum and introduce Dr. Oz.  Following Oz’s keynote address, Stengel will conduct an on-stage Q&A session with him.

Majora Carter, environmental justice activist, consultant and winner of a MacArthur Foundation “Genius” Grant, is president of The Majora Carter Group, LLC, where she simultaneously addresses public health, poverty alleviation, and climate change as one of the nation’s pioneers in successful green-collar job training and placement systems.  Born, raised, and continuing to live in the South Bronx, Carter’s work takes her around the world in pursuit of resources and ideas to improve the quality of life in environmentally challenged communities.

Julie Cottineau is the vice president of Brand at Virgin USA, overseeing branding strategy for new Virgin companies in North America, as well as providing strategic brand support for the established Virgin businesses. Virgin is a leading branded venture capital organization and one of the world's most recognized and respected brands, having created more than 200 companies worldwide, employing over 50,000 people in 29 countries. Virgin believes in making a difference and stands for value for money, quality, innovation, fun and a sense of competitive challenge. Community interests for the group of companies include supporting sustainable development in the communities to which Virgin Atlantic flies, using their Social Lending construct to help facilitate business and personal loans through Virgin Money, and delivering simple broadband to places it has never been before with Virgin Connect.

Margaret A. McKenna was named President of the Walmart Foundation in 2007.  The Foundation funds initiatives focused on creating opportunities in education, workforce development, economic opportunity, environmental sustainability, and health and wellness. Between February 2008 and January 2009 Walmart, and its domestic and international foundations, gave more than $423 million in cash and in-kind gifts globally and was recognized by Forbes Magazine as the number one most generous company of 2008.

Ted Hoff, Vice President of the Center for Learning and Development for IBM Corporation worldwide, is responsible for leadership development and succession planning across all of IBM including assessing, developing, recruiting and selecting leaders for all business and technical leadership roles and designing and leading all learning and development initiatives for the company.

Hoff will be the featured speaker during the Tomorrow25 luncheon program where Bentley honors the 2010 Tomorrow25, outstanding high school juniors who have been chosen through a Bentley-sponsored international competition as our next generation of leaders. The Tomorrow25 have demonstrated initiative, citizenship, intelligence, technological savvy, cultural awareness, social responsibility, and a dedication to making positive things happen in their schools, communities and society.
