President Davis-Blake Announces New Associate VP for Strategic Communications and Chief of Staff

President Davis-Blake Announces Christopher Joyce as Associate Vice President for Strategic Communications and Chief of Staff

Dear Faculty and Staff,

In June, I announced the creation of a new Division of Strategic Communications running out of the President’s Office to ensure that the university’s communications are clear, coherent and aligned with our strategic goals. The decision was consistent with the goals of our broader Strategic Planning process to position Bentley for success in the coming years. (For a full update on our Strategic Planning process, see here)

Chris Joyce has led the Division of Strategic Communications on an interim basis since its creation, skillfully overseeing the university’s communications, public relations and social media and providing valuable communications leadership as we launched multiple, university-wide efforts including Strategic Planning and Inauguration. Chris has also effectively served as Assistant to the President, overseeing the operations and management of the President’s Office over the summer and in my first semester. I’ve come to rely on and trust his judgement and counsel. I’m pleased today to formalize Chris’ role as Associate Vice President for Strategic Communications and Chief of Staff to the President. In these dual roles, and by sitting with the President’s Cabinet, Chris will help ensure that the President’s Office is managed effectively and the university’s communications are closely aligned with our broader strategic goals.

Chris is well-prepared for these roles, having served as advisor and Chief of Staff to former President Larson with a focus on communications strategy and public affairs. Before Bentley, Chris worked in leadership roles on a variety of local, state and federal political campaigns. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Bates College.

Please join me in congratulating Chris on his new role.

Warm regards,
Alison
