Mission

The mission of the Center for Integration of Science and Industry is to "understand the process by which science is translated for public value, and accelerate this translation by engaging science and industry in interdisciplinary dialogue, scholarship, and education."

The Center brings together the perspectives of natural science, business, analytics, and policy to understand, and advance, the path of translational science and the business models that create public value from the fruits of scientific discovery.

Dr. Fred Ledley
Bentley's Center for Integration of Science and Industry is pretty unique. It's a research center at a school that has both a great business tradition and a great science department and our role is really to try to bring that together.

Congressional Testimony

At a September 25, 2019 hearing of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies, Representative Mark Pocan asked Dr. Francis Collins, Director of the NIH, if the Center for Integration of Science and Industry was planning to expand on the 2018 study, published in PNAS, establishing that NIH funding contributed to every new drug approved by the FDA from 2010-2016. Researchers at the Center extended this analysis through 2019 in a 2020 working paper published by INET.

"I remember applying to the Center of Integration of Science and Industry during the winter break of my Junior year (December 2020). It was during the height of the pandemic when I was doing all of my classes online. During that time, I realized I wanted to pursue a career in research and academia, so I was excited to see a listing for a Research Assistantship at CISI. The year I spent working at the Center was an incredibly memorable year and one that gave me so much experience to be able to continue doing research in this field. ..."
