Using AI to Solve Health Challenges

CHB Case Competition - Fall 2024

Objectives: The Fall 2024 case competition aims to inspire innovative solutions to health industry challenges. It encourages collaboration among students from diverse academic backgrounds to address real-world health challenges.

Description: Teams will receive the case on November 8th and have exactly one week to complete their projects.

  • Information about the case competition, format, prizes, introduction to the Health Universe platform, primer on innovating within the health system and a chance to ask questions.

Case Release

Friday, November 8, 2024 @ 9:00 am, virtual

  • Details of the case will be made available as well as a live demonstration of the Health Universe platform. See an app created in real time in less than 10 minutes! Pitch PPT template will also be made available.

Open Hours

Wednesday, November 13, 2024 @ 9:30-11:30 am, virtual

  • Access to a digital health entrepreneur who can assist with business plans/details and a representative from Health Universe to answer any questions. Sign up will be required to reserve a slot.

Pitch/Presentations & Judging

Friday, November 15, 2024 @ 5:00 pm, Wilder Pavilion in Adamian Academic Center

  • Results announced at the conclusion of the pitches.

She is passionate about helping digital health startups—both in the U.S. and globally—break through adoption barriers and scale their solutions in new markets.

In addition to her consulting work, Joanna is the founder of Succeed Studio, a boutique executive coaching practice, that empowers entrepreneurs and senior leaders to elevate their impact. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Addgene, advises startups, and mentors future healthcare innovators through MIT Sloan's Healthcare Lab course.

Shwen is currently an independent consultant focused on Digital Health, Corporate Innovation and Generative AI. He is the founder of #GenAI4Pharma (a global series of events), an Executive in Residence (EIR) for Springboard Enterprises and is an advisor to a pharma-focused digital health accelerator, PharmStars. He is also an advisor and investor in numerous startups.

Prior to this, Shwen was the VP/Head of Global Digital Strategy at Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS), where where he was accountable to the Executive Leadership Team and the Board of Directors for leading digital innovation across the enterprise (R&D, Clinical, Commercial, Manufacturing & Supply Chain and Enabling Functions) and chairing the Digital Advisory Board, as well as for establishing the enterprise strategy for digital medicines and digital therapeutics.

Prior to BMS, he was the Co-Founder and Global Head of Open Innovation for the Novartis BIOME — a global network of digital innovation hubs, where he helped to launch multiple hubs internationally.

Shwen studied behavioral neuroscience at Northeastern University and completed his doctoral research in neuroscience at Cambridge University. He also received a "Chief Digital Officer" Executive Education certificate from the Northwestern Kellogg School of Management.

Bob has served as CFO for PeproTech, Inc.
