Dear Bentley Community,
Maureen Flores has been a trusted and enthusiastic vice president for University Advancement for three Bentley University presidents. After eight years at the university, the last four and a half leading the University Advancement division, Maureen has accepted a new position as chief development officer for the Boston Symphony Orchestra and will be leaving Bentley in early 2022. Please join me in thanking Maureen for her service to Bentley and wishing her well in this new and exciting role.
To say that I’ve appreciated having Maureen as a member of my executive leadership team would be an understatement. A successful vice president for university advancement must be one of the single most passionate and dedicated advocates for the institution. Those of you who have worked with Maureen know this perfectly describes her spirit and commitment to Bentley. I first got to know Maureen last winter when she helped run the presidential search committee. Since June, Maureen has been by my side traveling up and down the east coast and across the country as I’ve started to meet alumni, donors and university partners. So many individuals and families have built new and expanded relationships with Bentley thanks to Maureen’s efforts over the years. Bentley will be better positioned for years to come because of her successes.
Despite the difficult circumstances of the last few years, we have continued to make positive strides in institutional advancement and donor relations. Maureen brought a level of professionalism and excellence that defined the way her division operated, top to bottom, and the world noticed. We are building a culture and expectation of lifelong commitment to the institution within our alumni community. Maureen has made that possible. She was responsible for a $2.5 million gift for the Bentley athletic program, one of the largest gifts to the university, and led her team to generate significant corporate and foundation support for the Center for Women and Business, FirstGen and Service-Learning and Civic Engagement programs. In addition to her work with alumni and family engagement and fundraising, Maureen has been a champion for the work of the Pulsifer Career Development Center team, supporting their continued success as a leading career services program in the nation.
Before Maureen leaves Waltham for downtown Boston, we will find a moment to gather and thank her for her commitment to Bentley. In January, I will share details about interim leadership of University Advancement and plans for finding and naming Bentley’s next vice president. For now, I want to offer my sincere thanks and appreciation to Maureen for all she has done to make Bentley a stronger institution. I know I speak for many in saying that we will miss having her as part of this community.
Most Sincerely,
Brent Chrite
