A Plan for Bentley’s Future

Sept. 28, 2021

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Thank you for joining me and members of the Cabinet for this afternoon’s Town Hall. I hope that you found it helpful and informative. I’ve been so glad to meet with each staff division, numerous faculty members, and was honored to speak at the General Faculty meeting earlier this month, but to have the chance to share this plan with both faculty and staff together today was special.

As I mentioned today, I am excited for each member of our community to begin the important work of providing input during the upcoming strategic positioning process. Envisioning the future of how our university will continue to reinvent business education to meet the needs of the evolving global marketplace is no easy feat. An objective of that magnitude rarely is. But I know that this community is up to the task.

Throughout this academic year, we will implement a strategic positioning process that builds on and is informed by the important work you came together to build in 2018 with the Reinventing Business Education: A Future of Leadership plan. We all know that the world has changed considerably since then, and the coming decade will continue that evolution. That’s why it is important for us now to reevaluate and reimagine what our collective future will hold.

This strategic positioning process will rely on the thoughtful participation and engagement of our students, faculty, staff, trustees and alumni, and will focus on four strategic priorities:

  • Student Experience
  • Culture and Values
  • Resource Stewardship, Revenue Growth and Diversification
  • Positioning and Partnerships

If you are interested in nominating yourself to sit on one of these committees, please follow this link to submit your application. You will be asked to identify the committee you would like to join and share why your perspective would be valuable in this process. Members of the committee should expect to dedicate about two hours each week to the strategic positioning process over the coming months, participating in committee meetings, engaging the community in listening sessions, evaluating opportunities for Bentley and developing a final set of recommendations for the 2030 Strategic Plan that will be finalized in 2022. The deadline for nominations is Friday, October 1.

I look forward to sharing more updates with the community and welcome your feedback along the way. Next week, we’ll share our new strategic positioning website and announce the members of each of these committees. Reimagining the future of our university is an exciting opportunity. I’m thankful that we will be able to do so together.

Most Sincerely,
President Chrite
