Though we're not on campus at the moment, the Bentley Buzz will continue to share stories about the faculty and staff who make Bentley special. Now more than ever, it's important for the Bentley community to remain connected, one story at a time. Which new measures are you taking to stay productive, entertained and safe during this time of social distancing? Share those, and all stories, with us by emailing buzz@bentley.edu.

Here (Virtually) to Lend a Hand
Now more than ever, we could all use some extra support to get through the workday. When we’re on campus, Ombuds Eliane Markoff is used to lending a listening ear, giving advice on professional matters and helping resolve situations of conflict in the Bentley community. Though our offices look a little different for the time being, Eliane wants the community to know that she’s available to virtually lend her support.
"This can be a challenging time and I want to be sure the campus knows that the Ombuds Office is here to help," said Eliane. "My office is a resource for our community and offers every member a chance to confidentially discuss challenging situations so they can be resolved in a timely and constructive manner."
While Eliane has been speaking with members of the community remotely, she’s also been spending her time social distancing by painting—in fact, she painted the flowers framed in the photo at right. She’s also been baking more than normal, and her favorite recipe so far has been her chocolate chip cookies.
Before joining Bentley as ombuds in the fall of 2018, Eliane held the same role at Wheelock College where she launched the school’s first Ombuds Office after serving as a trustee for six years. The Bentley community was a familiar one to Eliane, as she previously taught organizational behavior and team building courses for undergraduate and graduate students. As ombuds, she's glad to be back at Bentley and looks forward to extending her help to the community.
