Bentley Police Sergeant Robert Lynn was recently inducted into the Kenpo International Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, with more than 900 attendees from around the world. Kenpo Karate is a style of martial art, of which Lynn is an 8th Degree Black Belt, professor title.
“It was an extremely humbling experience to be in the same Hall of Fame with legends such as William Chow, James Mitose, Edmund Kealoha Parker, Elvis Presley, John Chow-Hoon, Nancy Cerio and others,” Lynn recalls. “My son Bobby was present during my induction, which meant the world to me.”
The event was part of a Gathering of the Eagles event that included seminars by Kenpoka from all around the world, including Ireland, Scotland, Japan, Canada, and the U.S. Lynn presented on the New England Perspectives of Kenpo, including Kenpo Punch Techniques and also taught the Plum Tree Blocking system.
Lynn was on the local and national tournament circuit for over 17 years, and was ranked nationally in Kata and weapons, and was ranked locally in fighting. He began training in Kenpo when he was nine years old. He actively teaches programs -- children’s classes, small groups and private instruction for kids and adults -- in Arlington and Burlington, and conduct seminars all over New England. He is also assistant director to Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire for the International Kenpo Council of Grandmasters.
