A team of Bentley students were awarded $1,500 and first place at the Travelers fourth annual Actuarial Case Competition. Bentley was among five teams invited to compete in Hartford, CT, including: Bryant University, Temple University, University of Connecticut, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Bentley team members included juniors Laura Muise, Long Nguyen and Sean Pankiewicz; and sophomores Ross Denkin, Rob Henault and Julia Osborn. At the competition, students were given an insurance company case to research and presented their recommendation to a panel of judges from Travelers.
In addition to faculty adviser Emmy Roth, associate professor of mathematical sciences, the team was guided by Mathematical Sciences faculty members -- including associate professor Norman Josephy, and professors Lucia Kimball, Mingfei Li and Samuel Woolford -- and former team members Christie Mason and Yulia Podolny, both seniors.
