The American College Health Association (ACHA) presented the national E. Dean Lovett Award to Geraldine Taylor, assistant dean for Health and Wellness and director of the Center for Health and Wellness at Bentley University, recognizing her contributions to Bentley, the community and ACHA -- particularly in regard to the H1N1 pandemic. Taylor was honored at the organization's annual meeting on June 3 in Philadelphia ACHA acknowledged Taylor's exemplary work on the university's crisis management team and her collaborative efforts with other New England schools as they dealt with the H1N1 pandemic, as well as her work with the Massachusetts Director of Public Health as part of the Massachusetts H1N1 Advisory and Statewide Surge Committees.

Taylor has a long history of implementing illness and flu prevention campaigns, including social marketing materials and training for student leaders. In addition to her involvement in the university health community, Taylor's accomplishments include leadership roles in the ACHA Advanced Practice Clinicians Section and New England College Health Association, and membership in ACHA Emerging Public Health Threats and Emergency Response Coalition.

"Dean Lovett valued excellence in college health and I am humbled to receive this award," Taylor says. Lovett was an advocate of nurses in community colleges, small colleges, and university health services. The award honors ACHA members who have directed or contributed significantly to the development of a college health program in an exemplary manner.
