The Design and Usability Center (DUC) at Bentley University will host a User Experience Boot Camp for software and hardware engineers, industrial designers, and user experience specialists on March 8 - 12, 2010. This year, the Camp will focus on the growing importance of the user experience as a strategic business advantage and a point of differentiation in mature or hypercompetitive markets. The week-long program will help attendees acquire the skills needed to meet emerging market conditions and employer demands through hands-on workshops, interactive discussion sessions, and expert presentations.

Topics include elements of the user experience; user research and market segmentation; design implementation and innovation; assessment and measurement; and process improvement and success metrics. Participants will also have the opportunity to conduct or observe a real usability test in Bentley's state-of-the-art Design and Usability Center.

Created in 2001, the Boot Camp and Bentley's Masters program in Human Factors in Information Design showcase the university's commitment to exploring and improving the intersection of business strategy, user experience and product design.  Several of the country's leading authorities on user experience will present at this one-of-a-kind program, including:

  • William Gribbons, PhD, director of the Human Factors in Information Design program and senior consultant, Design and Usability, Bentley University
  • Bill Albert, director, Design and Usability Center, Bentley University
  • Colin Hynes, director of Usability, Staples
