Bentley University Professor of Marketing Rajendra (Raj) Sisodia was named a 2010 Top 100 Thought Leader in Trustworthy Business Behavior by Trust Across America, a collaborative initiative from Next Decade Inc. that is committed to rebuilding trust in business. Selection for the national award is based on extensive, positive contribution to building trust in business.
Sisodia was also named an Outstanding Trailblazer 2010 by Good Business International Inc., a new media community that supports all things "good" in the world of finance and business. He was acknowledged for "groundbreaking and courageous work supporting financial reform and economic justice for all citizens."
Professor Sisodia, a management expert and co-founder of the Conscious Capitalism® Institute, is committed to transforming traditional business models to embrace "enlightened self-interest" in the bottom line. His personal passion and vision for conscious leadership in business has become an international movement.
"It is very gratifying to see that the message is getting through and people are paying attention," he says of the recognition. "It has given us a renewed sense of momentum and fresh impetus to continue to try and build this global movement."
Conscious Capitalism is a holistic approach that suggests business must serve a higher purpose than merely maximizing profit. "I believe it is changing the very soul of capitalism," Sisodia says.
He cites support from Bentley University faculty, staff and administration in helping to educate others on the importance of ethical business practice. In particular, the university hosts an annual Conscious Capitalism Conference (upcoming May 17-18, 2011), and prominently features the Conscious Capitalism message in a number of forums.
Observes Sisodia, "My passion is to get more business students, academics and practitioners to become conscious of and harness the power of business to do good in the world, provide a sense of meaning and fulfillment to employees, improve the well being and quality of life of customers and nurture the precious resources of our planet for the future benefit of all. This is immensely satisfying work."
