Bentley University seniors Taylor Haney, Nolan Karthol, and Elizabeth Sisson are among Boston-area college students serving on a Student Advisory Committee for the Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange (MITX) to organize a student-focused track for the 2011 FutureM event taking place in Boston from September 12 to 16.
“A goal for FutureM this year is to build greater student awareness and participation in this community event, and create tighter connections between students and Boston's amazing digital marketing community,” said Debi Kleiman, MITX president. “By putting together a team of highly engaged students, we give representation to the ideas of a critical generation, and add its unique perspective to FutureM.”
In addition to Bentley, committee members hail from Boston College, Dartmouth College, Emerson College, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Tufts University. Students are charged with designing a track for the week-long FutureM to appeal to the region's rich college-aged talent and be open to the entire FutureM community to attend. The committee will also participate in FutureM sessions and conversations around the generational use of digital media, generate crowd-sourced questions throughout the event, and serve as campus evangelists for FutureM and Boston's vibrant marketing industry.
“Working on the FutureM conference has really driven home for me how important digital marketing has become and will continue to be for all types of companies – regardless of size or industry,” says Haney. “The conference is playing an important role in increasing knowledge and skills in this growing marketing arena and the impact our generation can have.”
The students also appreciate networking aspects of the conference, as noted by Karthol. “It's been a great opportunity to interact with students and professionals from various schools and backgrounds who share a passion for the future of digital marketing.”
“It’s vital for millennials to showcase our abilities and knowledge, but at the same time it’s imperative we learn what’s new and what’s next from experienced professionals,” Sisson adds.
As part of the FutureM event, the Center for Marketing Technology (CMT) at Bentley will host the following events:
