The Women's Leadership Institute (WLI) at Bentley University will once again present a workshop series for mothers who are weighing their career options. "M.O.M.: More Opportunities for Mothers" is designed to assist women who are beginning to make decisions about the next phases of work and life. The five-week series runs on Wednesdays - March 2, March 9, March 23, and April 6, and April 13, 2011 - from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Bentley campus in Waltham. Mass.
"We recognize that many mothers who are considering re-entry into the paid workforce may hesitate because they're overwhelmed by the process and may question whether they want to return to the same career that they left," says Marianne DelPo Kulow, director of the Women's Leadership Institute. "The workshop series provides an opportunity to take the initial steps toward re-entry in an environment rich with exercises to help explore realistic options. It also provides the support and resources of a cohort of other women experiencing the same journey of re-launching themselves."
This semester, the WLI is introducing a new fifth session to the MOM program. This session will focus on "Establishing Your Professional Identity - How to Leverage Traditional and Social Media to Promote Your Personal Brand." Mary Kaye, Career Coach and Founder of Comeback Moms, will facilitate the fifth session and will teach our participants how to market themselves in today's global business environment. Barbara Hyle, Director of Bentley Alumni Career Services, will continue to facilitate the first four sessions. All participants can expect:
- Comprehensive exercises designed to help you develop the parameters of your ideal job and establish your professional identity.
- An intensive brainstorming session with distinguished faculty and members of the business community to target positions and organizations that meet your parameters.
- Access to leaders in the field of career re-entry and a support group that will assist you in achieving your short and long term goals.
- Experienced guest speakers from a variety of backgrounds.
- Troubleshooting advice for participants after program completion.
Carol Fishman Cohen, Co-Founder of iRelaunch and co-author of the book Back on the Career Track: A Guide for Stay- At-Home Moms Who Want To Return To Work, will present as the keynote speaker on Wednesday, March 2 at 10:30 a.m. Those registered for the program will receive a free copy of her book.
