Bentley Campus

This spring Bentley’s Dresses to Dreams student organization hosted their annual on campus event for almost one hundred high school girls from the Greater Boston Area. The event is designed to provide girls with the opportunity to choose from a selection of donated prom dresses for their upcoming formals. Additionally, attendees can take part in various workshops ranging from prom hair and makeup tips, to panels on inner beauty and life after college.

While the whole day is exciting for all involved, the most magical moment occurs when girls find their perfect prom dress. Participants begin by entering a closet which is filled with hundreds of dresses, all of which are different styles and colors. They then have the opportunity to try on as many as they would like with the help of family and friends.

After Tatyana Nembhard, a senior from Madison Park High School, decided on a red metallic dress, she could not have been more excited. “It feels really good to know I have a prom dress,” Nembhard says. “The red popped out at me right when I walked in! Now I’m really excited for my prom.”

The high school girls in attendance are not the only ones who are passionate about this event. The Dresses to Dreams executive board and committees, made up entirely of Bentley students, put in many hours of planning.

While all of the members play different roles, each of them can agree that this organization provides an incredibly rewarding experience. “The most rewarding part of the program is seeing the girls’ faces when they find their dress,” Co-Coordinator Jennifer Cyprien says. “That moment where I can see their genuine happiness makes the whole year of work worth it.”
