Wishing Judy Malone Well

Feb. 2, 2023

Dear Faculty and Staff,

I’m reaching out today to share the news that Judy Malone will be retiring from Bentley at the end of this academic year. For 15 years, Judy has played an instrumental role in Bentley’s governance as our vice president / general counsel. Since I first arrived at Bentley, I have deeply valued Judy’s wisdom and hard work on my Cabinet, in addition to her calm, friendly presence on campus.

Judy arrived at Bentley in 2008 after more than two decades practicing law and specializing in labor and employment litigation, including as a partner at the national law firm Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge in Boston, where she was the recipient of numerous prestigious recognitions. For six consecutive years, she was named the Leading Massachusetts Lawyer in Employment by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly and was chosen one of America’s Leading Business Lawyers by Chambers USA from 2003 until she left the firm.

This is to say, Judy is an exceptionally talented leader, and we were lucky to benefit from her expertise and experience for so many years. In her time at Bentley, she has been a constant source of support, using her wealth of knowledge in higher education and nonprofit law to inform policy decisions and assist our board of trustees. Anyone who has had the pleasure of working with Judy can attest to her kindness and dedication to Bentley. She will be missed, but it is an honor for Bentley that she will wrap up her successful career as a member of our community. We will begin the search soon for a new general counsel, and I will keep you posted on the progress.

As she looks to her next chapter, Judy looks forward to traveling and spending more time with her family. We will have a chance to celebrate Judy and thank her for her many years of service to Bentley before the end of the academic year. In the meantime, please join me in congratulating Judy on a much-deserved retirement.

Most Sincerely,
President Chrite
