Faculty and other members of the campus community continue to provide insightful analysis and thoughtful commentary for print, broadcast and online media.

MarketWatch. Professor of Finance Roy Wiggins and students from his Seminar in Micro-Lending course are profiled for launching an organization that will provide small loans to local entrepreneurs. Others to feature the story: AOL Money & Finance, Yahoo News, LosAngelesTimes.com, Forbes.com, Boston Globe, Boston Herald, Boston Business Journal and Baltimore Business Journal (October 28, 2008).

National Journal Online and Fast Company. Professor of Government Christine Williams is highlighted for research showing that presidential candidates’ presence on social networking sites influences their popularity among young voters. The National Journal Online story is called “Campaigns Work to Turn ‘Friends’ Into Voters (October 22, 2008). Fast Company taps Williams to comment on the impact of social media technologies, for the story “Government 2.0?” (November 6, 2008).

MSNBC.com. Atul Gupta, professor of finance and department chair, supplies perspective on why the government appears to encourage banks to consolidate, in “Just 3 ‘Superbanks’ Now Dominate Industry” (November 6, 2008).

The Wall Street Journal and WGBH-TV. Bruce Weinberg, associate professor of marketing and department chair, co-authors “The Secrets of Marketing in a Web 2.0 World” for The Wall Street Journal (December 15, 2008). In a podcast for WSJ.com, Weinberg offers advice on how companies can bounce back from negative online reviews (December 10, 2008). The professor also appears on the public television program Greater Boston to discuss the bleak retail climate with host Emily Rooney (November 6, 2008).

The Baltimore Sun. Gregory Hall, associate professor of natural and applied sciences, offers advice to parents on teaching children about personal finances, in “Crises Help Create a Teachable Moment” (October 26, 2008). He also lends insight to “Downturn Provides Teaching Moment for Kids to Learn About Saving,” for the Chicago Tribune (November 30, 2008).

Boston Herald. A story highlights details of the ongoing partnership between Bentley University and the Boston Celtics. The Boston Business Journal and Waltham Daily News Tribune covered the story as well (December 2, 2008).

New England Cable News. Featured as part of the fourth annual CEO Summit, Bentley President Gloria Cordes Larson discusses the affects of the current financial crisis on higher education (December 9, 2008).

Boston Business Journal. The weekly newspaper highlights several Bentley faculty. Associate Professor of Computer Information Systems William Schiano lends insight on applying IT to an ever-changing business world, for the story “Fit to Fight” (October 31, 2008).  Heikki Topi, associate dean of business, joins Atul Gupta, professor of finance and department chair, to discuss how the ongoing financial crisis affects academic curricula; that story is called “Changing Course” (December 12, 2008).

CFO.com. Assistant Professor of Finance Kristina Minnick addresses companies’ pursuit of goodwill write-offs during an economic downturn, in the story “Goodwill Hunting” (January 1, 2009).

BusinessWeek. Professor of Finance Len Rosenthal offers insight on the current relevance and value of Wall Street analysts, in “The Equity Research Shortfall” (January 8, 2009).

The Black Collegian. The magazine profiles Bentley student Joshua Latson, an Economics--Finance major, in “Collegian Academic All-Stars” (January 12, 2009).
