A Message from the Board Chairman

President Davis-Blake is leaving the university for personal reasons, and an interim president will be named

Paul Condrin, Chairman of the board

Dear Members of the Bentley Community,

I am writing to inform you that President Alison Davis-Blake is leaving Bentley University for personal reasons. This is a time of great change in academia and we thank Alison for her service over the past two years. Alison helped establish a strategic plan that we are excited to bring to fruition as Bentley’s next chapter. This important work will help guide our path forward for years to come.

Effective immediately, I will begin working with the Cabinet to ensure that our many important initiatives remain on track. We are very purposefully focusing on Bentley’s approach to racial justice, equity and inclusion on our campus, with concrete initiatives and strategies to be announced soon. We are prudently preparing our campus to reopen more fully for staff and faculty this summer, with the anticipation that students will return to campus in August. And we are rapidly implementing our new trimester calendar system which begins this fall, with careful planning and coordination across the university to ensure all students, faculty and staff have the information and details they need to be successful.

We are fortunate to have a leadership team, faculty and staff that is highly capable and so deeply committed to the mission of our university, to academic excellence and to our students. And we are eagerly looking forward to having our students back to campus as soon as possible to continue their academic journey.

Our plan is to identify an interim president as soon as possible while at the same time forming a search committee to identify Bentley’s 9th president. Given our strong reputation and distinct positioning, we expect to receive interest from many qualified candidates with experience in business-focused education. There will be many additional details to share in the days and weeks ahead, and I promise to keep you informed as we move forward.

Thank you for your incredible focus and commitment during these challenging times. The Board of Trustees remain, as ever, so proud of this university and this community.

Sincerely,

Paul Condrin

Chairman of the Board of Trustees
