Today we woke to another senseless act of violence, the murder of dozens of people worshiping at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. Our hearts go out to the victims, their families and communities who will be forever scarred by this terrorist act of anti-Islamic bigotry.   

I’m thinking, too, of our own Muslim community members, who make up such a crucial part of our Bentley family. Please know that you have our support, and University Police are doing everything they can to keep you and all members of our community safe every day.

Senseless murders can leave us feeling powerless to influence the world around us. However, it is precisely at these moments when we must step forward and help create, through words and deeds, the world we want to live in. Diversity is one of our Bentley Core Values. We believe that our lives are richer and fuller when we share them with those who come from different backgrounds, who bring different life experiences and who practice different religious traditions. Instead of letting differences come between us, let us celebrate our differences and learn from them and each other, today and every day.
