On Saturday, February 28, more than 300 Bentley students competed in the largest academic competition of the year, the 18th annual Bentley Business Bowl. The university-wide business case competition provides students an opportunity to showcase their skills at solving real-world business problems while interacting and networking with business professionals.

Organized by the Bentley chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA), the competition invited graduate and undergraduate students to analyze ethical, business, accounting or auditing dilemmas and present their findings to a panel of judges that included business executives, Bentley alumni, and Bentley faculty and staff.

According to NABA’s President Michelle Molina '15, professional connections can start at the business bowl and have the possibility to lead to internships or full time job offers. “I think it’s an extremely worthwhile experience for students to participate,” Molina says.

Teams of four to five students were grouped by class year to compete against opposing teams of the same level. Winning teams in each class received cash prices up to $350.00.

“Participating in the Bentley Business Bowl was a great opportunity to think beyond my own subject of study,” says Sean Ding ’15 and member of the winning graduate team. “It is a rare and meaningful experience to work with some talented peers from a different class or different program than mine.”

The Business Bowl is presented in partnership with sponsor Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, along with corporate donors AAFCPAs, ALDI, Boston Scientific, CBIZ, Deloitte LLP, Deloitte Consulting, EMC Corporation, EY, Grant Thornton, KPMG, Plum Choice and PwC.
