Kenneth Goodpaster, Koch Endowed Chair in Business Ethics at Opus College of Business, University of St. Thomas (MN) , will explore why, in the face of a pattern of high productivity and failing ethics, Americans choose to deepen corporate responsibility rather than abandon capitalism in favor of more socialistic models. He will also address whether this pattern is sustainable at the Verizon Visiting Professorship in Business Ethics Lecture on Monday, February 4, 2013, at 3:30 p.m. in LaCava Campus Center room 395.

Before joining the University of St. Thomas, Kenneth Goodpaster held teaching posts at Notre Dame and Harvard University. He is widely published in outlets such as the Journal of Philosophy, Ethics, Environmental Ethics, the Journal of Business Ethics, Business Ethics Quarterly, and the Harvard Business Review. He is author of the recently released book Corporate Responsibility: The American Experience and the critically acclaimed of Conscience and Corporate Culture.

During the week of February 4, Goodpaster will be based at Bentley’s Center for Business Ethics, and will facilitate a faculty and staff workshop on February 7, in addition to visiting classes.
