What is Degree Works?
Degree Works is a web based tool to help students and advisors monitor students’ progress toward the completion of their degree requirements. The degree audit helps to track degree progress, prepare for course selection and plan for graduation.
What is a degree audit?
A degree audit is a review of past and current coursework that provides information on completed and outstanding requirements. It can be used as a tool to plan and track your progress toward earning your degree. The audit can be used as part of advising sessions with academic advisors to determine course selections and confirm graduation requirements.
How do I access Degree Works?
You may access Degree Works from Workday. The link to Degree Works can be found on the Academics app under Academic Advising.
How do I log out?
Click “Log Out” in the upper right hand corner of the audit.
Is my information confidential?
Your academic advisor along with Office of the Registrar staff have access to your degree audit for business purposes. This is to assist you with reviewing your degree audit for advising sessions and graduation processing.
How is my degree audit different from a transcript?
Your degree audit is an unofficial document and can be viewed as a tool to provide you with academic information related to your degree progress and help you plan your academic schedule. Your degree audit is not your official academic transcript. An official transcript can be obtained from the Bentley Registrar’s office, please visit their website for more information.
How current is my degree audit information?
For students registered for the current or upcoming semester: Each time you access your audit click the process new button at the top to ensure that you are viewing the latest available information. Data is typically refreshed twice daily. Any changes made to your academic record today (for example, grade changes or classes withdrawn) will be seen on your audit no later than tomorrow.
Audits for students on leave from the university are not routinely updated. For support, contact ga_academic_services@bentley.edu.
When should I look at my degree audit?
Your degree audit is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Review your degree audit information:
- Before you meet with your academic advisor
- Before registration to plan your program for the term
- After you register to ensure that the courses you selected applied to your requirements like you thought they would
- After your grades for each term are posted
- Before you file for graduation, to review your academic record
- Any time you make changes to your academic program, for example, adding a minor, or changing your major
How is the degree audit organized?
The top of your degree audit will provide you with information such as your class code, overall gpa, your graduation petition status, as well as your curriculum information such as major and optional programs.
The degree audit is organized by each set of degree requirements you must complete for graduation – specifically, core courses; primary major courses; required electives; and, any optional programs such as Honors program requirements, minor(s), or additional major(s).
Does the degree audit show how many courses I have remaining to complete the degree requirements?
Each section of the audit will provide the number of credits required and the number completed. A check mark will appear next to the requirement once it has been completed. See the legend at the bottom of the audit for other symbols that may appear next to courses.
Can I view a list of all of the classes I have completed?
Yes. On the Degree Audits tab, click on the “Courses Taken by Term” link for a list of courses completed.
How does Degree Works decide where to put my classes in the degree audit?
The degree audit places each course using a “best fit” scenario. Often multiple possibilities exist and Degree Works may not choose the same configuration that you may have chosen. This does not mean that the course could not be used in another configuration rather that the tool is providing you with a possible scenario.
Degree Works placed one of my courses in two different places. Is that okay?
Degree Works recognizes that some courses can fulfill more than one requirement.
Is everything on Look Ahead function in Degree Works accurate?
No. The Look Ahead function is designed to give you an idea of how future courses might apply in your current degree program. Look Ahead does not account for combinations of major and minors that might not be allowed within a specific academic program. Students who started at the university on or after Fall of 2022 should consult the Major and minor combination exclusions. If you entered the university prior to Fall 2022, please see the prior catalogues archive for major and minor combination exclusions. It is best to have an academic advisor review your degree plan after using Look Ahead as a tool.
Are my grades visible on my degree audit?
Yes. Once grades have been processed at the end of each term, they are viewable on your degree audit. It typically takes between 5-7 business days at the end of each semester to fully process grades including updating GPAs and posting all grades. During that time you may see your GPA change based on grades that have been received by your faculty and then processed by the Registrar’s Office.
If I withdraw from a class, will that be reflected in my audit?
No, you will not see courses that you withdraw from in your audit. You can see them in your Academic History in Workday.
What does the @ symbol mean in the list of applicable courses for a certain requirement?
The @ symbol is a wildcard.
In a list of courses such as MLSP 1@ or 2@ or 3@ or 4@, it means that any 100, 200, 300, or 400-level MLSP course applies to the requirement.
If the @ symbol appears after a subject in a list of courses, such as SO @, it means any Sociology course applies to the requirement.
If there are two @ symbols, such as @ @ which appears in the Unrestricted Elective requirements, it means any course applies to the requirement.
What is the Insufficient block?
It is a list of courses that do not meet academic requirements. This section will include any course with a final grade of W (withdrawal), F (fail), or I (incomplete).
What is the In-Progress Block?
This is a list of current or future courses you are registered for.
