Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), Bleeding Control, and Related Education
Bentley University has launched a public access Automated External Defibrillator (AED) program in high traffic areas and buildings across campus. The AEDs are designed for anyone to use without any specific training, but as noted, below, we are planning upcoming educational offerings for the Bentley Community.
An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable medical device that is designed to analyze heart rhythm and if necessary, deliver electrical shock in an attempt to restore the heart to a normal rhythm after sudden cardiac arrest.
The public access AEDs are housed in cabinets in key locations as shown below. The cabinets include small rescue kits with face shields and other supplies needed to assist in the use of the AEDs as well as bleeding control kits that can be used to help control life-threatening bleeding during an emergency.
As in all emergencies, call University Police at 781-891-3131 in a medical emergency. AEDs are also carried in University Police vehicles, at the Bentley Health Center, and by athletic trainers.
