Health Insurance

The Massachusetts Universal Health Care Act (SHP) requires all students enrolled at least three-quarter time (6.75 credits for graduate students; 9 credits for undergraduate students) to participate in a qualifying U.S. based health insurance program (Executive PhD students are not eligible). Student Accounts is responsible for collecting the waiver and enrollment forms for each academic year. Insurance policies from other countries are not accepted.

Waiving the Bentley Insurance Plan

Domestic students may waive the Student Health Insurance Plan offered through Bentley University if they have comparable insurance coverage. Undergraduate day students must waive prior to August 1 for the annual plan, or January 2 for new first-year and transfer students for the spring semester. Graduate and evening students must waive prior to the first day of classes. All waivers must be done online using the link below.

If an approved waiver has not been submitted prior to the deadlines listed above, you will be required to pay for the Student Health Insurance Plan offered through Bentley University.

Note: If a student originally waived the Bentley health insurance plan, during the open periods for the fall or spring, and then subsequently loses their insurance coverage, he/she must notify University Health Plans at 833-251-1738 within 60 days of the loss of coverage. If eligible, the student will be enrolled in the Bentley health insurance plan at a prorated premium. If a student notifies University Health Plans after the 60 days, they will not be eligible to enroll in the Bentley health insurance plan.

GradGuard Tuition Insurance

Tuition Insurance

What happens when your student's education is disrupted by an unexpected injury or illness? Depending on the timing of the withdrawal, you may not be eligible to receive a refund of all of your tuition and fees.

The Tuition Insurance Plan helps students and their families overcome the financial losses that may result from events which force students to withdraw from the semester due to a covered medical reason. Helping families get the most out of your Bentley University experience is always our top priority. That's why we've partnered with GradGuard™ to make the Tuition Insurance Plan available to our families.

This coverage strengthens and broadens the scope of our existing refund policy by ensuring reimbursement for tuition, housing and other payments if a student withdraws for any covered medical reason at any time during the semester.

Please remember the deadline to enroll is the day before classes begin each semester.
