Bentley library during the fall

Do you want to speak at Graduate Orientation?

Learn more about how you can share your tips and anecdotes with new grad students.

Fall is right around the corner, which means the New Graduate Student Orientation is fast approaching. Our incoming graduate students are excited to start their degree programs and, more importantly, learn how to be successful from their peers. This year we are inviting all continuing graduate students to apply to be the graduate student speaker. All applicants must be able to attend the orientation in person on Monday, August 26 at 9 AM and be in good academic standing.

Application Requirements:

To apply, complete the application below by Sunday, August 11. Prior to starting the application, please have a copy of an original speech you will be giving. There is not a specific prompt, we encourage you to be creative with something that will resonate for those in attendance. The graduate orientation student speaker should have the ability to give a positive and meaningful address to incoming students. Orientation is a graduate students first day at Bentley, so feel free to have fun and be creative with the speech.

  • Your speech will be about 3-5 minutes long, or about 500-750 words. If chosen, your speech may be edited for a consistent tone with the ceremony and other remarks given.
  • You will be required to attend the orientation in person.
  • The best speeches will be those that can connect with a large number of people; however, the speech should be unique to the experience of being a Bentley graduate student.
