President’s Council
The President’s Council provides strategic guidance and support to President Chrite and university leadership. Members are selected for their expertise, professional and volunteer experience, and commitment to advancing Bentley’s mission and vision.
Mack Bernadeau is a former NFL player, real estate entrepreneur and youth advocate. Over his esteemed eight-year career with the Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys, he played nearly 100 games as an offensive lineman. Mack is currently an entrepreneur, focusing on real estate investment and development in the Dallas area. He is also a partner in Cowboy Wagyu and part owner of Exceed Sports, a gym for young athletes. An inspirational speaker and noted philanthropist, Mack supports numerous education initiatives and funded the construction of a school in Canaan, Haiti.
Joe Caprio is a partner in GlassWing Ventures, where he brings deep experience in early stage operating and sales leadership. Known for his abilities to find the right target audience, identify effective growth strategies, and build high-performing sales teams, Joe has successfully launched three venture-backed startups. As one of the initial employees at InsightSquared, he led teams through $30M in sales before serving as vice president of sales at Chorus.ai. He then co-founded and served as chief revenue officer of Reprise, the first intelligent demo-automation company. Joe also owns and operates Suncook River Camp, a seasonal campground in Southern New Hampshire.
Yasmin Causer is a retired partner from the Private Client Services Group at KLR, a leading New England accounting and business advisory firm, where for more than 30 years she advised high-net-worth clients on financial and tax matters. She serves in various leadership capacities, including at USA for United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees as treasurer and on their board of directors; with the Boston Museum of Science on their board of museum advisors, audit committee and diversity, equity and inclusion task force; and with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, on their steering committee for the Middle East and South Asia curators circle.
Heather Foley Ebels is the chief financial officer and chief compliance officer at Park Street Capital, LLC, a principal investment firm specializing in traditional venture capital, later-stage venture and buyout funds, and in natural resource assets. Before joining Park Street in April 2000, Heather was a senior tax consultant at Ernst & Young LLP, serving various real estate and investment partnership clients.
Sheila Harrington is an audit partner and the healthcare industry lead for New England and Upstate New York for KPMG in Boston. With 30 years of accounting and finance experience at KPMG, Sheila has worked with the firm’s largest healthcare and life sciences clients in the region. She is also actively involved in KMPG’s recruiting program, is a past co-chair of their Network of Women, and is current chairperson of the MA-RI Healthcare Financial Management Accounting, Regulatory and Technical Committee.
Ken is the founder and chairman of UIC Energy Ghana Ltd., a Ghanian company focused on solar power generation and oil and gas projects. He also co-founded and is president of Union International & Co., a Singapore company focused on agribusiness and energy, and is the CEO of Nunya Farms, one of the largest and fastest growing commercial farm companies in Ghana. Previously, Ken worked in leadership and management positions at leading Fortune 100 companies, including Goldman Sachs, Brookfield Asset Management, and United Technologies Corp.
Steve is a seasoned financial executive with over 30 years of leadership experience, most recently serving as CFO of Vonage. In this role, he oversees all aspects of the company's global financial organization. Prior to joining Vonage, Lasher spent 24 years at IBM, where he held various senior finance roles, including Vice President of Finance for IBM Global Markets and Integrated Accounts, managing the financial operations of the company’s ~$80 billion global sales function. His expertise in finance and business transformation played a pivotal role in the $6.2 billion acquisition of Vonage by Ericsson.
Ali Machado has more than 25 years of experience in the financial sector and banking industry, including as a co-founder of Commonwealth Bank, a member of the board of directors of Ann Melkin Consulting and Ann Melkin Corporation, and of the board of directors of Perfilnet.com, a joint venture of regional media companies in Latin America. Ali has held senior positions at Citibank N.A., Delsur Banco Universal and Republic International Bank, and is currently managing director of MGG Capital Partners, a private investment firm in Denver, Colorado.
John McDonough has over 20 years of experience in health care services, focusing on working with clinicians to bring exceptional care to patients while improving their care experience. Currently chairman and CEO of Veterinary Practice Partners, John also served as executive vice president and CFO at PharmScript Holdings, COO at American Renal Associates, and chief accounting officer for DaVita Inc., where he led a 700-person accounting and collections team. Additionally, John is the chairman of Eye Health America, a network of private equity-backed eye care practices in the southeastern U.S.
Greg Quercia is owner, vice president and a founding partner of Black Diamond Networks, a professional staffing agency that places top quality life sciences, engineering and technology professionals in contract roles across the United States. An accomplished executive with over 24 years of experience in the technical staffing industry, Quercia worked in both sales and recruiting for multiple technical staffing companies before founding Black Diamond Networks. Quercia is also co-founder of Chew Dawg Hockey Academy.
John Romiza is a co-chief executive officer at the investment firm Dimensional Fund Advisors Ltd. (DFAL), where he also serves as a director of DFAL and on DFAL’s investment and management committees. In addition to these roles, Romiza chairs the board of directors of Dimensional Funds PLC and Dimensional Funds II PLC and is global co-head of Equity Trading. As Equity Trading co-head, Romiza oversees trade execution strategies and coordinates all equity trading operations across the firm's global trading desks.
Muriel Schadee recently retired from her role as a principal with Nathan, Wechsler & Company, where she specialized in tax services for construction, professional and technology firms, mergers and acquisitions and individual tax strategies. Highly recognized for her expertise, Muriel’s numerous accolades include the The Wall Street Journal Award and NH Business Review’s 2015 Outstanding Woman in Business. Muriel has held leadership roles as a board member for Capital Region Healthcare, Concord Hospital, First Night New Hampshire and the New Hampshire Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction.
Steve Somers is a partner at Solex Capital Management, a family office focused on investing in small- and medium-sized manufacturing and distribution businesses. Prior to Solex, Somers spent 14 years at Vigon International, a leading processor and distributor of high-quality flavor and fragrance ingredients, which sold in 2021 to Azelis, an EQT portfolio company. During his tenure at Vigon, Somers ran the commercial side of the business for over 10 years before becoming managing director with responsibility for all Vigon activities.
John Vaglica has over 30 years of experience in corporate finance, accounting and operations, specializing in operational assimilation, M&A and private equity financing for insurance and high-tech medical device manufacturing. John has been at Accession for 19 years, growing the firm from $9M to $1.6B in revenues and raising over $7B in debt and equity. Prior to Accession, John was the corporate controller at Endius Incorporated and held leadership positions at Benchmark Assisted Living, Haemonetics Corporation and Lockheed Corporation.
Karl Wagner, currently a board member at Aqua Dermatology, is an experienced management executive with an extensive background in health care services. He previously served as CEO of Riverchase Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery and in various leadership positions over 18 years at MEDNAX (now Pediatrix), a national leader in women’s, infants’ and children’s health care. In addition to serving as CFO at MEDNAX, Wagner was president of the company’s American anesthesiology division and headed up the division serving the eastern United States.
Joe Wickwire’s career in investment management spanned over 32 years at companies like Fidelity Investments and Wells Capital Management. Joe is currently an adjunct professor of Finance at Bentley and teaches FI 322 "Advanced Topics and Career Perspectives in Investment Management" and supports the Wall Street 101 Summer Program. He is a CFA charter holder, member of the Boston Security Analysts Society and of the Hughey Center for Financial Services Advisory Board. Joe is also actively involved with the Catholic School Foundation and Boston College, where he serves on the Board of Regents.
