Objective
This knowledge base is designed to provide access to key knowledge components in an easily digestible and conversational format for all aspiring entrepreneurs. The knowledge base does not claim to be comprehensive. Instead, it summarizes important elements that entrepreneurs need to access and understand as they engage in the entrepreneurship journey. The text and and pointers within each segment below provides the entrepreneur access to important information, pointers to additional resources, and a way to consider how they might use these elements within their own efforts. This knowledge-base is not intended to be a replacement for the academic offerings. It is meant to act as a first step for aspiring entrepreneurs who may want easy access to critical pieces of information that help them understand the complex and inter-related elements that they must navigate during the entrepreneurial journey. Here are some examples: (a) what exactly is entrepreneurship? (b) how do I find a way to monetize my idea? (c) what are the different ways I might look for funding? (d) how do I communicate my ideas with potential investors? Explore the knowledge-base as you wish.
How to use (and not use) the knowledge-base:
- Do not use the knowledge-base as a cookbook for entrepreneurship. For example, following the frameworks or descriptions within each module are not a guarantee for success. Nor does the E-Hub recommend using the resource in this manner.
- Use the knowledge-base to make your plan. But - be ready to refine it (or even discard it) when faced with unanticipated circumstances. This does not mean that your planning efforts have no value. You will learn and become more effective at responding to situations.
- Use the knowledge-base to prepare so you can engage more effectively with the mentors. Use the knowledge-base to learn the lexicon as you engage with other stakeholders. Use the knowledge-base to anticipate things you will face on your entrepreneurial journey.
This knowledge-base contains a summary of several important considerations and jump-off point for additional exploration, not a comprehensive reference. It will continue to be refined with help and feedback from Bentley Alumni.
