National Voter Registration Day - Now's the Time to Make Sure You're Ready to Vote!

National Voter Registration Day is September 17th. Are you ready to vote?

On November 5th, elections will take place across the country where citizens can vote not only in the presidential election but also in congressional elections, state and local office elections, and on ballot measures. Don't wait - now is the time for you to make sure you’re ready to vote. Here’s how you can get prepared:

1. Register to Vote: Being a registered voter ensures that you can participate in choosing leaders and shaping policies that affect your future, your community, and your country. Each state and territory sets its own rules for registering to vote, but many states allow you to register online. Check your state’s Secretary of State website or Election Office website for information. The Office of the Registrar here at Bentley offers Voter Registration Information as well.

2. Request Your Ballot: If you’re planning to vote by mail or absentee, you need to request your ballot. Don’t wait until the last minute. Check your state’s deadlines and procedures to make sure you’re all set.

3. Do Your Research: It's important to conduct research to make informed decisions about candidates and issues. Start by visiting the library's Elections 2024 page on the American Political Elections Research Guide. The resources provided on this guide provide valuable information related to the election cycle focusing on presidential and congressional elections as well as tips on how to stay informed about state and local elections. You'll also find recommended databases for finding current news and articles from a variety of newspapers, magazines, and journals.

Stay informed, get registered, request your ballot, and make your voice heard!
