Check out these Reading Day Relief and final exams period stress reducers at the library! We are offering a variety of study break options to help you relax and recharge during the final stretch of the semester. Take care of yourselves, Falcons!
READING DAY RELIEF ACTIVITIES: WEDNESDAY, MAY 1
STUDY BREAK SNACKS & BEVERAGES
11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the lobby
Coffee, tea, lemonade, and snacks to give you a boost.
BUBBLE TIME
12:00 – 2:00 p.m. outside (Smith Quad)
Blow off some stress with bubble wands of all shapes and sizes.
BUTTONS & BRACELETS
2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 8:00-10:00 p.m. in room 101
Time to get crafty with make-your-own buttons and friendship bracelets. We'll provide the supplies, you bring the fun and creativity!
PAPER MARBLING
Special Location: 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. in Collins Creative Space
Learn how to make your own sheets of marbled paper with Ellen Wetmore, whose exhibit Pareidoliac Grotesques, is now on view at the RSM Gallery. This workshop is free as part of the Library’s Reading Day Relief and all Art Supplies will be provided.
CROCHET YOUR WAY TO CALM
5:00 – 6:00 p.m. in room 101
Drop in to learn crochet basics and make a lanyard or wristlet keychain. Already a crochet enthusiast? Bring your own project to work on during the hour and/or share your skills, knowledge & enthusiasm with others.
FINAL EXAMS STRESS REDUCERS: MAY 1–8
We’re providing opportunities and activities that will help reduce stress, stimulate creativity, and boost your mood all throughout exam period. Take a break from your computer screen and head to the lobby to explore:
DIY BOOKMARKS: Check out the coffee tables in front of the gallery for all the materials needed to make your own bookmarks. We’ll have plenty of bookmark templates, colored pencils, and tassels on hand for you to get crafty.
GAMES TABLE: We’ve noticed how popular the library chess board is, and we’re adding Scrabble and Checkers into the mix for exams period. Grab a friend or two for a board game study break.
COMMUNITY JIGSAW PUZZLE: Whether you add one piece or many, pitch in to help us complete the latest puzzle.
WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT WHITEBOARD: Post your positive messages to help your fellow Falcons through finals.
Don't forget that library staff are here to help with everything from printing, to booking a study room, to conducting research and creating citations. No question is too big or too small. Please ask any library staff member if you need a hand!
