About the Exhibit

RSM Gallery is pleased to present Multiversed, featuring Jameel Radcliffe’s large-scale portrait paintings, Rebecca Greene’s cardboard sculpted masks and weavings, and Nygel Jones’ sculpturally framed collages and paintings. The creative conversations among these three distinct artists manifest in active collaborations and inspired influences. Radcliffe and Jones became friends in college. Greene and Radcliffe share a studio at the Boston Center for the Arts. Shared artistic friendships and creative space set the stage for collaborations. Radcliffe has been inspired by Greene’s work with birds and has integrated them as well as her sculptural masks into his paintings, furthering the mythic qualities and powerful presence of the portraits. Greene has translated color block borders from Radcliffe’s paintings into totemic vertical woven sculptures. Jones creates paintings and assemblages enclosed by dynamic sculptural frames influenced by sign-making, pop art, and industrial design. Jones has made framed forms in collaboration with Greene and Radcliffe.  Across the unique styles and materials approaches, these three artists share the capacity to move fluently between abstraction and representation, using Pop art imagery and bold geometry to build the theatrical multifaceted stories of their work.
