At a convocation rich in pomp and tradition, Bentley University welcomed the Class of 2018 to campus August 28 with a words of wisdom from a digital age marketing strategist dubbed the “millennial master of the universe ” by Fast Company.
In a keynote video address to 980 freshmen from 36 states and 42 countries, Sharma Hyder, CEO of Marketing Zen Group and a participant in Bentley’s PreparedU Project, offered “10 tweetable tips” for students to make the most of their time at Bentley.
Volleyball head coach Sandy Hoffman has mastered the art of tough love. Since beginning her Bentley career in 1982, she has led the team with a balance of rigor and compassion.
Hoffman’s two-prong approach has brought honors that include nine Northeast-10 Conference regular season championships, 11 NCAA Division II tournament berths, and a spot in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Moreover, Hoffman and her players form a vibrant extended family.
Her coaching philosophy is embodied in two words: Get tough.

As residential students move into residence halls this week, we’re continuing to move closer to Monday’s start of the fall trimester. Testing has gone smoothly for our new arrivals to campus thanks to the efforts of our Health Center and Screening Test Program staff. This week’s updates include the launch of our COVID-19 Testing Dashboard and a new process for accessing buildings on campus.

This week marks the start of the new academic year. With new and returning residential students moved in and screening testing underway at the Miller Lot testing site, we’re off to a smooth start to the fall 2020 trimester. Ensuring that campus remains healthy and safe will take the collective efforts of all members of our community. This week’s newsletter will share some helpful tips to ensure we do just that.
