Learn About Bentley’s Hybrid Learning Experience

Bentley University’s Graduate School has been fully functioning with online and hybrid learning methods to accommodate the COVID-19 pandemic so far. Student can learn just as much through various technologies as they would in a class room setting while engaging with faculty online.

There are three ways courses are being provided: asynchronous online, synchronous online, and hybrid. Asynchronous online learning provides students who have busy lives with the opportunity to have flexible schedules to study at their own pace. With synchronous learning and hybrid methods, students will be engaged in authentic, collaborative discussions in real-time at the specific class time each week. As synchronous online classes are fully remote and live-streaming online, hybrid classes offer students with in-person options (space is limited to keep classroom density at safe levels to allow for physical distancing) and online options. The classroom is empowered with technology and software that allows students to get more out of the time they spend learning.

When MSBA candidate Andjela Cutovic transferred her courses into a hybrid model, she initially worried about the engagement experience but was pleasantly surprised. A key positive takeaway in the remote class structure is that it indeed does allow the professor to engage with students. The professors here reassure that online learning has the same interaction as in-person by putting students into breakout rooms to discuss topics and work on group projects.

With the hybrid classes, the professor will record every class and put the recording onto the blackboard. This enables students who want to go back and listen to the class once again review the information, take good notes, and practice for an upcoming exam. Furthermore, Bentley has invested in various platforms to integrate with the student learning experience. Students have access to a ton of available software with Bentley login.

The hybrid learning experience allows me other avenues as a student to form my responses and address them in class as I might be more hesitant live in person. During in-person classes, I may find it more challenging participating live.
