My Bentley Graduate Student Experience During COVID-19
October 30, 2020
It hasn't been the easiest of transitions for anyone during this pandemic period, but I can reflect very positively on my Graduate School experience here at Bentley with courses online and in hybrid classrooms. To facilitate a great interactive experience between professors and students, the classroom is empowered with technology and software that allows me as a student to raise my hand and speak with the professors just like in person. It was initially a challenge for all of us to get used to this new norm, but the class content, personal attention from my professors, and opportunities to still network with peers hasn't been compromised.
From my personal experience, it was really interesting to have online classes in the beginning because I had never done one before. I can’t believe how interactive it is to be in an online course. I can directly address my questions and state my opinions just like I am in the classroom, and professors give me feedback in real-time.
For school life, I realize social distancing does not have to mean social isolation. For example, I am able to schedule appointments with my academic advisor for next semester course planning and ask for help from the Bentley career development team. Also, I chat with classmates via Zoom to work on group projects and hang out. Last but not least, it is inspiring to attend panels featuring business professionals sharing their career pathways and what they've learned over the last several months. I am very thankful to have learned a great deal as a student at Bentley in this time.
