My Exuberating Bentley Graduate School Journey

Imagine this— you wake up every day with no structured schedule routine for your days because every day is different from the next— coffees, workouts, zoom classes, meetings all at various points, and finally, the opportunity to get some work done. This is my typical day. My transition from my undergraduate to online graduate studies at Bentley was and still is an exciting journey. Having to prepare every day for the different changes in this journey has truly enlightened my spirit.

For example, when I was an undergraduate at Bentley University, I centered my entire schedule around due dates, joining organizations and clubs that kept me immersed in the Bentley community and culture. I will even enjoy multiple junk food servings a day at the 921— one of Bentley’s dining options with my friends with no accountability of time. However, I feel that now I am in graduate school, I have learned that, in many ways, it is a solitary experience. This is MY experience, my success, and my advancement. Though you are not alone, there is a sense of obligated self-discipline that comes with being a graduate student, and I am still adjusting to that.

Bentley has helped me find value through my experience by having supportive faculty members and staff assist in the current knowledge and understanding of a graduate student like me. With graduate school being all about my personal and career enrichment, it can be an enormous adjustment. With time, the skills and advanced expertise are the gold medal at the end of the marathon.

Coming from Bentley as an undergraduate, I have learned that though we all are trying to adjust to our new normal virtually, the need for comprehensive in-class learning, on-campus physical resources, and friends to tag along to the 921 are memories I will always cherish. And that stands true as a self-driven graduate student pursuing an MBA with a finance concentration online.
