Juneteenth is one of the oldest holidays celebrated in America. On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas to announce that all slaves were free. This was nearly three years after Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation was signed to end slavery in the United States and its territories.

This June we are celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride Month with a book and film display that emphasizes intersectional queer communities. In curating titles for this display, we sought to feature authors, individuals, characters, and stories that represent the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community and highlight intersecting identities and experiences.

The end of the academic year, while exciting, also brings us a touch of sadness as we say farewell to our Class of '23 student assistants. We would not be able to provide the services we do without their support and dedication to the library. It is our long held and much loved tradition to dedicate a book in our collection to show our appreciation. Each student is asked to select a title that is meaningful to them; we then add a special book plate in their honor.

The RSM Art Gallery is excited to announce that EVOLUTION, a selection of paintings and drawings by Boston-based artist John Guthrie, opens on Saturday, May 13. To celebrate, the Gallery is hosting an Artist Talk and Opening Reception on May 13 from 5:00–7:00pm. We hope to see you there!
