Bentley maintains personnel records for each employee that are the property of the university. The information contained in an employee’s personnel record is confidential. Only individuals with a legitimate business need will be allowed to view personnel records.
Employees will be notified within 10 days if the university places any information in an employee’s personnel record that may negatively affect the employee’s employment. Employees who disagree with any material placed in their personnel record may submit a written statement explaining the employee’s position and such statements will be placed in the employee’s record.
Employees who wish to review or receive a copy their personnel record need to submit a written request to Human Resources. Upon such request, employees may review or receive a copy of their personnel record within five business days in the Human Resource office during normal business hours.
Former employees requesting to see or acquire a copy of their record should submit a written request to Human Resources. Former employees will be required to provide positive identification before they will be permitted to review their record or to receive a copy of it.
