Fall 2024 Closing Information

Check-Out Information & Timeline

• Residence halls officially close at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18th.
• All residents must depart from the residence halls within 24 hours following your last final exam, or by Wednesday, December 18th at 5:00 p.m., whichever comes first.
• A brief checklist of tasks you must complete prior to leaving will be affixed to your room door in early December. Please make sure to complete these items before departing, then scan the QR code on the checklist to log into the Housing Portal to complete the online Check-Out Form at the time of your departure. The Residential Center needs each resident to complete this form upon leaving campus. Students that fail to leave the residence halls by December 18th at 5pm and do not have late stay approval will be charged through the conduct system.
• After students leave, Residential Center staff members will conduct a brief inspection of each room to ensure that everyone has left. Any policy violations left in plain sight will be documented.

Leaving Items in Your Space

• Students returning to housing for the spring semester are welcome to leave items in their room over the break period but will not have access to the room during that time.
• Students who are not returning to housing for the spring (graduating, taking a leave, going abroad, etc.) must remove all items upon departure at the end of the fall semester.

Requesting a Late Stay

• Students with extenuating circumstances are welcome to request a late stay until 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 19th.
• The Late Stay Form will be available in the Housing Portal beginning in mid-November.
• Once a student submits the form, their Residence Director will review the request and communicate via email whether the student has been approved or denied. Students must provide a reason for your request to be considered for late stay approval.
• All late stay requests are due no later than 12:00pm (noon) on Monday, December 16th.
• We cannot approve any requests to stay beyond 9:00 a.m. on December 19th. Students who need housing past that time will need to sign up for Winter Break Housing.
