We're Here To Help
- The Counseling Center is available for all students who are struggling and seeking mental health support. The Counseling Center staff are available for an initial consultation, which will be used to assess and determine the best course of action to help a student. If appropriate, staff can schedule students for short-term therapy. Should it be determined that more long-term, intensive, specialized or local support is necessary, Counseling Center staff will assist with connecting students with those resources.
- Counseling Center staff provide a welcoming environment and are committed to supporting the identities, beliefs, and experiences of all students. In light of the racial justice movement and recent events, the Counseling Center understands the importance of stating forthright that we are strongly in support of all identities and stand against any act of hate.

Frequently Asked Questions
During regular business hours, visit the Counseling Center or call our main number (781-891-2274) to make an appointment. Same day appointments may be available. Students in crisis will be seen immediately. You can also make an appointment online through our Initial Consultation Self-Scheduler. Due to licensing laws, students MUST be in Massachusetts at the time of the appointment. The online scheduler is only for those students who have not had an appointment since July 1st. For those who have been seen since July 1st, please call to make a follow up appointment. Also, please be aware that there is more availability than what is accessible through the online scheduler. Please call the Counseling Center should you want to discuss other appointment options.
For the first appointment, you will meet with a licensed mental health provider (either remotely or in person) who will speak with you about what is going on to help determine what would be most helpful for you going forward. For many students, that one meeting is sufficient to get the support and guidance needed regarding the concern they came in to discuss. For others, it might be recommended that you join one of our groups, attend a structured workshop on reducing stress or even accept a referral to one of our providers for short-term mental health support.
Yes! We recognize that mental health distress occurs quite often when the Counseling Center is closed. As such, you can always call the Counseling Center main number (781-891-2274) and follow the prompts to be connected with our after-hours mental health providers.
Yes. We greatly appreciate the impact of the intersection of identity and mental health and thus have a staff of skilled providers who value multicultural competence and humility. Our staff engage in regular education and training with respect to working with students from a variety of backgrounds. We also understand the value and comfort that some students might feel meeting with a provider who shares a specific aspect of their identity. For those students who would benefit from short-term support, we are able to refer to providers who hold a variety of backgrounds and clinical expertise through our partnership with Mantra Health, our online telehealth provider.
For their first appointment, students will have the option to meet with a mental health provider either remotely or in person. For those students who would benefit from short-term support, remote vs. in-person services will be determined based upon need and availability.
We have made a lot of mental health resources available for all that do not require making an appointment with the Counseling Center. For those students who would prefer to learn stress management skills on their own schedule, we have converted our four-session Stress Management Workshop to videos and uploaded to the Student Health Resources Page. You can also try checking out our series of brief mental health related videos on topics including, mindfulness, challenging negative thinking, negotiating better boundaries in relationships and more.
If you would like to be connected with a provider off campus, our staff is more than happy to assist. Please call our front desk and make an appointment for a "consultation" and we'll help walk you through the steps to get connected. If you would like to navigate the process on your own, we encourage you to use Thriving Campus. This website will allow you to use filters to help connect you with a provider who takes your insurance and has the expertise you are looking for.
