Students

Information Session

An information session will be held that will provide details of the event and answer any questions or concerns regarding the case competition. At least one member of each team should plan to attend. If you missed the information session a recording will be provided.


 Here are some resources on how to make the best presentation

Registration

Students organize their own team of up to five members within the same class year* as of the start of the spring semester as follows: 

  • First Year (Freshman) students 
  • Second Year (Sophomore) students 
  • Third Year (Junior) students
  • Fourth Year (Senior) students 
  • Grad Students - Currently enrolled in graduate program.

Teams must register with four or five members.  Teams with less than five members may be assigned another member at the discretion of the NBB Committee if a "free agent" student needs a team. Teams must have at least four members to participate on the day of the competition.
Space is limited to twelve (12) teams per level.  Overflow teams may be wait-listed.

REGISTRATION will open January 20, 2025

Students can Register here by having one member of the team (designated as Captain) login and enter the students' names. Deadline to register is Wednesday, February 3, 2025. If you do not have a complete team (four or five members, YOU MUST HAVE THE MINIMUM OF FOUR MEMBERS TO PARTICIPATE), you can register yourself as a Free Agent and you may be placed on an incomplete team, depending upon availability. There is no guarantee that you will be placed on a team. By submitting your registration, you are agreeing to the NBB Guidelines found on the FAQ page.

Competition Day

Days immediately before the event:

  1. Teams will confirm their participation in specific time windows per class code starting at 5:00PM (ET) on Thursday, February 13 through 5:00PM Friday, February 14.  The time window for class codes to confirm participation will be provided to team captains by Tuesday, February 11.
  2. Once team captains confirm participation, the team captain along with the team members will receive an email with the case, the assigned time, the classroom number and any additional instructions available.  The teams can then begin working and researching the case immediately.

Day of the event:

  1. Teams check in and attend breakfast starting at 8:00AM in the Executive Dining Room (EDR) in the La Cava building.     Opening ceremony starts at 8:30.
  2. After the competition, participants are invited to complete an evaluation form to receive a raffle prize ticket.
  3. An awards ceremony and reception announcing winners of each class group will take place later in the afternoon in the EDR at 5:00 PM.  
  • Dress Code: Business Professional
  • No cell phone usage during the presentations.

Competition Day Schedule - Saturday, February 15, 2025:

  • 8:00am - 8:45am: Team check-in, breakfast and welcome in the EDR
  • 9am - 12:15pm: first Round Competition Presentations in the Jenison building classrooms
  • 12:00pm - 12:40pm: lunch in the EDR (Teams moving forward will be announced to everyone, at the same time, during lunch in the EDR)
  • 1:00pm - 4:30pm: Finals Round Competition Presentations
  • 4:30pm - Reception and Awards ceremony (Competition winners will be announced during the reception)

Presentation Time Overview

  • 20 minutes to present
  • 10 minutes for questions from judges
  • 5 minutes for judge deliberation (team leave room)
  • 5 minute feedback from Judges

Judges will provide feedback and it should be received as suggestions that might have improved the presentation and final scores.  DO NOT ARGUE WITH THE JUDGES.
