Bentley Students in Scandinavia

International Education Highlights

The Cronin Office of International Education proudly highlights the international education achievements of the Bentley University community. A lifetime of international learning begins with global ambition and the resources to actualize it. With collaboration with offices across campus, the Cronin Office offered more than $125,000 in annual scholarships for faculty-led and semester study abroad programs for the 2023-24 academic year.  We are pleased to showcase these outcomes and the students who achieved them.

Aleshia Green in Jamaica

Aleshia Green ’24, MSF

Course: Jamaican Journeys: Unveiling Brands, Culture, and Consumer Trends

Scholarship: Earle and Sloan Travel Fellowship

As a Jamaican American, I sought out for this experience to give me a unique perspective to explore my culture and understand the roots of many traditions. Each day truly unlocked a new layer to Jamaica’s beauty, rich history, and cultural influence. I was able to learn about various small businesses at the Branson Centre for Entrepreneurship, how they started and how their journeys carried on to where they are today. From our historical walks with storyteller Amina Blackwood, to our immersion into the Rastafari Indigenous Village, and touring the SIPS water facilities, each experience brought about enlightened thoughts and an even wider perspective of the country overall. Many know the theme of sun, sea, and sand as Jamaica’s brand, but we were able to see and understand that there is much more.

Eliana Lamptey ‘24, Data Technologies & Actuarial Science Major

Course: Biodiversity, Health and Disease in Ghana

Scholarship: Global Social Responsibility Fund

I gained a wealth of knowledge and understanding in the areas of community-based initiatives, the preservation of the environment, and the concept of social entrepreneurship. Throughout the duration of the program, I had the chance to visit various local sites, which greatly enhanced my comprehension of the global issues we face as well as the potential remedies that can be implemented.

My experience in Ghana has been absolutely amazing. I enjoyed being able to immerse myself in the culture. The vibrant markets, rhythmic music, and warm smiles of the Ghanaian people have undoubtedly been the highlights of my time there.

Gordon Jancarik ’24, MBA

Course: The Business of Happiness in Scandinavia

Scholarship: Earle and Sloan Travel Fellowship

Seeing the stark differences between our country and that of Finland and Denmark has helped put in perspective the importance of policy, social welfare programs and various other things both big and small such as robust public transportation and its effects on a population... This experience has truly broadened my horizons and allowed me to see the world through a more compassionate and informed lens. I was able to witness firsthand how other societies tackle issues such as healthcare, education, and environmental sustainability, which has provided me with invaluable insights that I hope to bring back and implement in my own community.

Isabel Maier MSHFID ’24

Kyoto, Japan

Winner: Bentley Abroad

“This photo captures a few of the Bentley students who went on a trip to France in May 2023 during a faculty-led course with History Professor Sung-eun Choi.

Although we didn’t know each other prior to the trip, we created lasting bonds with each other while we were there.”

Rachel Vitko ’24

Paris, France

Photo of the interior of a high-speed train in Heibei, China.

Winner: Landscapes

“I took this photo while riding a high-speed train through Hebei province in northern China.

The shutter captured the view of the fields speeding by outside the window, while the light from the sun filtering in made the colors of the photo very vivid.”

Xintong Li ’26

Hebei, China

Falcon Favorite

“This is a photo I took while traveling in Switzerland with a group of some of my closest Bentley friends.

The country is known for its beautiful mountains and dairy products, and the city of Interlaken is famous for its adventurous activities — like skydiving, which I was able to do while there!

I was so happy I was able to capture so much of the Swiss beauty and culture in a single photo.”

Ashleigh Bolduc ’24

Interlaken, Switzerland
