Bentley University Names Brian Rodgers of Hamilton, Mass., Winner of 2012 “Break into the Business of Baseball” Summer Internship Program with the Boston Red Sox

Bentley University is giving high school student Brian Rodgers the chance to play in the big leagues as he participates in an internship with the Boston Red Sox. Through the “Break into the Business of Baseball” program, sponsored by Bentley and MLB.com, Rodgers will complete a one-month internship during summer 2012 with the Boston Red Sox .

During the Fall 2011 semester, Bentley University juniors and seniors enrolled in the Human Relations in Healthcare Organizations class, led by Psychology Professor Helen Meldrum, were invited to work with the Massachusetts Health Council to help the assess the growing problem of low health literacy in relation to patients’ understanding of their prescription, over-the-counter and alternative medications.

American Accounting Association Names Bentley University Accounting Professor Jean Bedard Outstanding Auditing Educator for 2012

Bedard’s research has focused on various aspects of improving audit quality. While her earlier research studied individual auditors’ decisions, her more recent studies examine firm-level quality control practices and regulation. In that scope, Bedard co-wrote a series of papers with Karla Johnstone (University of Wisconsin-Madison) that investigates factors associated with why audit firms either accept or decline certain companies as audit clients. She was honored at the organization’s Midyear Conference and Doctoral Consortium in Savannah, GA, in January.
