Bentley University Launches Student-Led Initiatives to Combat Bullying

Students and faculty at Bentley University, in cooperation with the Bentley Service-Learning Center, have launched an anti-bullying campaign that extends from their Waltham, Mass. community into local schools and nearby communities. Designed to be run by students, the One Goal, One Community: Moving Beyond Bullying and Empowering for Life initiative is focused on educating community members and soliciting their commitment to help change behaviors and put an end to bullying.

The Bentley University McCallum Graduate School of Business is one of the Best Business Schools in the country, according to The Princeton Review. The New York-based education services company features The McCallum Graduate School in the new 2011 edition of its book, "The Best 300 Business Schools" (Random House / Princeton Review). Bentley is listed among the Best Business Schools in the Northeast and is ranked # 1 in the nation for its state-of-the-art campus facilities, based on student surveys.

The Women’s Leadership Institute (WLI) hosts “Shattering the Glass Ceiling: It Starts On Campus,” a workshop for undergraduate and graduate women on building your network on campus and beyond. The program will be held Monday, October 18, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. in the Executive Dining Room at LaCava Center. Registration is required.

Bentley University Receives $2 Million Gift from Alumni Steven and Christine Manfredi

Bentley University Alumni Steven '73 and Christine Manfredi '73 have presented a $2 million financial commitment to support the strategic plan and mission of the university. A significant portion of the funds will be used to build upon and enhance a recent initiative focused on innovative leadership programs for female undergraduate students. The effort spans topics such as developing the confidence to take risks and champion ideas; learning to balance all aspects of personal and professional life; and increasing women's presence as executive officers and corporate directors.

The Dean of Arts and Sciences at Bentley University hosts prominent American non-fiction writer and novelist Tom Wolfe on Friday, October 15, at the annual faculty retreat. During the lecture, Wolfe will discuss his latest book The Human Beast, which explores the nature of human beings. The lecture will be held from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. in Wilder Pavilion and is open to the Bentley community only.

Bentley University Senior Matthew Krawiec Receives 2010 SCORE/SBA Scholarship Award in Entrepreneurship

Bentley senior Matthew Krawiec, a management major at Bentley University, is the recipient of the 2010 SCORE/SBA Scholarship Award in Entrepreneurship. A Management major, Krawiec won the competition for the $1,000 scholarship on the basis of his academic performance and entrepreneurial perspective. The competition is sponsored by the Bentley University Management Department under the leadership of management faculty members Jeffrey Shuman, Hans Thamhain, and Fred Tuffile.
